This workshop made me feel proud of Kenley!
Year 6 Student
To start off January, the Kenley Revival Project joined Hayes Primary School for their History Week. The school covered all kinds of historic topics and the Kenley Revival Project spent three days with the whole school, from years 1 to 6, telling the children about Kenley Airfield’s history and the stories of people that served here during World War I and II.
The Project held a selection of workshops that helped the different year groups learn about Kenley, for the younger years we had a story time session, which gave the children great opportunities to touch and learn about the objects while hearing the story of World War II pilot, Gordon Olive.
For the older students, it was a chance to learn more about the Battle of Britain and the different roles that individuals played on the airfield, which included hearing the real stories of Stan Ford and Lillias Barr. The students asked great questions and thoroughly enjoyed their workshops.
