22 February 2020 saw the third iteration of the Kenley Mini Museum. To keep things fresh, the theme once again varied; this time with WWII re-enactors and for half term kids activities and even a drawing competition with the prizes donated by a local artist.
One end of the display area was transformed into a dispersal hut with the re-enactors illustrating the activities pilots and aircrew followed whilst waiting for the call to scramble. Other exhibits included tributes to pilots who lost their lives whilst flying from RAF Kenley during the Battle of Britain, together with models depicting aircraft representative of the battle.
The activities table was very popular with the visitors, not just the children. We had plenty of entries to choose from – all hoping to win a framed print of RAF Kenley by aviation artist, Barry Weekley. The drawings will be displayed at our next Mini Museum on 28 March. City of London Commons have generously allowed us to join with their Meet the Calves event, on 28th March.
