'Your Health in the Blackout' Leaflet, (overleaf)
Robin Grainger
This leaflet was issued by the Central Council of Health Education, possibly in November, 1940. It gives instructions on how to construct a ‘light trap’ in a blackout screen to allow ventilation.
The leaflet expounds the benefits of good ventilation for physical and mental health as well as preventing the spread of infectious diseases. It emphasises how children suffer in stuffy rooms and how the ‘working efficiency’ of war workers is lowered by not being able to get proper rest.
The original recipient of this leaflet was Mr. L. Ridley, of Upper Selsdon Rd, Sanderstead. It comes from the collection of Robin Grainger.
