Aircraftman First Class Roy Tapner
Roy Tapner was killed during the Luftwaffe bombing raids on RAF Kenley on 18th August, 1940 – the Battle of Britain’s “Hardest Day”.
Roy was the son Ernest and Hilda Tapner (nee Wood), of Brighton, Sussex. He was born in 1919, in Steyning and had two older sisters – Irene and Dorothy.
