On 17th January 1939, Acting Pilot Officer Donald James Catt and F/O Lionel Gaunce of No.3 squadron, took off from Kenley at 10.15 am and headed towards the south coast for some live firing practice, in their Gloster Gladiator MkI's.
On 18th April 1939, Flight Lieutenant Dennis Collins and Acting Pilot Officer Frank Stiven of No.3 squadron, lost their lives when Stiven collided with Collins while trying to get into formation during a night flying exercise.
On 13th February 1930, Sergeant Cecil Alfred Arthur Fell of No.32 (Fighter) squadron, Kenley, was killed in a flying accident, having jumped from his Armstrong Whitworth Siskin (J9191?) when the controls became jammed.
On the 10th May 1938, a formation of No.3 Squadron Hurricanes, returning from practice flying, were on final approach to land at Kenley when, at 200 feet, one of them (L1579) stalled and fell to the ground.
On the morning of 30th April, 1932, three of 23 squadron's Bulldogs were carrying out various manoeuvres in the Ashdown Forest area, when the two rear aircraft of the 'vic' formation collided, following a signal to change formation.
On 23rd November, 1937, Pilot Officers Keith Victor Keen and Montague Percival Richards, of 17 squadron were killed when their Gloster Gauntlets (K5344 and K5348) collided at 6.45pm near Old Coulsdon. They were carrying out a night railway signals detection duty.
On 24th November, 1931, Flight Lieutenant Ernest Lacey and Pilot Officer John Edward Shrimpton were both killed when their De Havilland Gypsy Moth 60M (K1210) collided with one of 23 Squadron's Bristol Bulldogs (K1615), flown by Pilot Officer Frank Stokes, at 9.30am over Kenley Airfield.
On 17th March 1930, Flight Lieutenant Richard Llewellyn Roger Atcherley of 23 squadron, Kenley, flew to Farnborough with Sergeant John Martin, in J7519, a dual control Gloster Grebe.
At 10.15pm on the night of Tuesday 19th September, 1931, a tragic accident took the life of 26 year old Corporal Frederick James McKenna, whose car collided with a signpost at Alderstead Heath, Merstham.
On 10th February 1939, Pilot Officer Jack Driscol Mills, of No.3 squadron, lost his life when his Gloster Gladiator (K7955) crashed into Firle Beacon, south-east of Lewes, Sussex, in thick fog.

No.46 squadron lost Sgt. Fred Charles William Rogers, when he crashed his Gloster Gauntlet II, (K7795), into a hill at Pepperscombe Farm, Steyning, in Sussex.
