We are grateful to Deborah Butcher for sharing this programme for Kenley’s Empire Air Day 1936, which she found amongst her Grandparents’ possessions.
Empire Air Days were held at RAF stations from 1934 until 1939. Anthony Muirhead MP, Under Secretary of State for Air, said:
The idea of Empire Air Day is that the public should be enabled to see the Royal Air Force at its everyday work. As many stations as possible… are opened to the public on payment of a small charge for admission. At each station a programme of flying is arranged.
