I was evacuated from Highbury, London, with my school in September 1939.
Here at Kenley Revival HQ we have never been short of surprises. Whether it be the stories of those who lived, served or played at RAF Kenley during the Battle of Britain to the very fabric of the site's architecture itself.
We are now recruiting for volunteers to help run our Sky Heroes event on the 10 September. The day is open to the public from 12-5pm so we are looking for volunteers that can help between 11-6pm. Please get in touch if you can help for the day or even a few hours with the role below which suits you.
Here's a map of the day with what's going on - keep checking back for updates!
Many thanks to Simon Grant at Monogram Fine Artists for creating our wonderful event poster!
My starting primary school in my mind coincided with what Rob Wilton the comedian called “the day war broke out” adding “my wife said to me, Rob what are you doing to win this war”.
Information on how to get to the event by free shuttlebus, public transport or by car. Please note there is limited grass parking available onsite and all cars must vacate the site by 5pm.
