Visitor Information and Map

Take a walk back through time and learn about the history of RAF Kenley with our beautiful new Heritage Trail.

Kenley is still an active airfield for gliders, so for your safety, comply with all warning signs and remain outside the airfield safety fence unless the pedestrian gates are open.

The perimeter track is just over two miles long. The surface is level hard-standing. It is accessible to wheelchair and pushchair users, but because of its age, it is rough and uneven in places.

Dogs should be kept under control at all times especially near livestock. Coulsdon Common’s sheep and cows play an important role in the management of the chalk grassland.

There are no toilet facilities on Kenley Common.

Roadside parking is available on Hayes Lane.

  • Fantastic work everyone!
The combination of the fence posters and new ‘wings’ made for an informative walk that will help with our school history lessons. Clearly a lot of time has been spent on this. We hope people continue to respect the efforts of those in the past and also the present to keep the history ‘alive’.

  • I was very pleased to see the new information boards (wings) at Kenley recently. Along with the fence posters, they offer an interesting insight into the role of Kenley and the RAF personnel during WW2. They are a welcome addition to the airfield.
