Claude Malcolm Yorke was killed at RAF Kenley on 18th August, 1940, during the bombing raids of “The Hardest Day”.
Claude was born on 25th September, 1920, and was the only son of Bernard Malcolm Yorke and Ruby May Yorke (nee Bridgen) of 56 Heybridge Ave, Streatham. Prior to volunteering for the RAF, Claude worked at the Streatham Hill Theatre.
He was killed a month before his 20th birthday.
