The wreckage of Gloster Gauntlet K5359, 8/5/1939.

On 8th May, 1939, Gloster Gauntlet Mk. II, K5359, of 17 squadron, stalled and hit the ground as it side-slipped attempting to land at RAF Kenley. It had been delivered to the squadron on 28th August 1936. Luckily, the pilot survived, but unsurprisingly the aircraft was written off.
