Gloster Gauntlet, K5359, No.17 Squadron, 8th May, 1939
On 8th May, 1939, Gloster Gauntlet Mk. II, K5359, of 17 squadron, stalled and hit the ground as it side-slipped on landing at RAF Kenley. It had been delivered to the squadron on 28th August 1936. Luckily, the pilot survived, but unsurprisingly the aircraft was written off. The Squadron were re-equipped with Hawker Hurricanes the following month.
